Master Vehicle Technician

Salary – £35,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience) + Bonus opportunity

Somerset, Lympsham

The normal working hours are 43.75 hours per week, worked over 5 days plus the requirement to work 1 Saturday every 4 weeks.

 

Monday – Friday              8am – 5.30pm (1 hour break, 30 minutes for lunch and 2 x 15 minute breaks)

Saturday                             8am – 1pm

As a Master Technician, you will serve as the technical expert in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex systems. Your knowledge, leadership, and attention to detail will ensure the highest standards of quality and safety while mentoring junior technicians and supporting operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing Advanced Vehicle Issues: Conduct in-depth diagnostics to accurately identify faults and malfunctions across a range of vehicle makes and models.
  • Servicing and Repairs: Perform high-quality servicing and repairs, ensuring all work complies with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  • Safe Work Environment: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, in line with all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • MOT Testing: Carry out MOT tests (if applicable), ensuring vehicles meet the required safety and environmental standards.
  • Customer Communication: Work closely with Service Advisors to explain technical issues and repairs clearly to customers, offering practical and professional advice.
  • Accurate Documentation: Complete all job cards, service reports, and repair orders accurately and promptly to ensure clear, thorough records.
  • Pre-Delivery Inspections: Conduct detailed pre-delivery inspections to ensure vehicles meet the highest quality standards before handover.
  • Deadline and Promise Adherence: Manage tasks efficiently to meet deadlines and deliver on customer service commitments.

Person Specification:

  • Hold a relevant qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or have equivalent experience as a time-served technician
  • Experience with E-Dynamix systems is desirable (training will be provided)
  • Hold a current and valid UK driving licence
  • Own and maintain a basic set of tools suitable for the role
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly and confidently to non-technical customers
  • Excellent time management and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
