Purchase Ledger Clerk (Maternity Cover)
Location: Bristol, BS5
Salary: £24,740 per annum (pro-rated)
Hours: 22.5 hours per week to be worked over 5 days
Contract: FTC 12 months
We are seeking an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our busy Bristol Finance team on a part time basis on a 12-month fixed term contract.
Key responsibilities:
- Process invoices accurately and efficiently into our DMS system.
- Act as the first point of contact for all purchase ledger-related queries.
- Reconcile monthly supplier statements, requesting invoice copies as needed.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies, working closely with budget holders to problem-solve financial queries.
- Process and facilitate payments for employee expenses.
- Conduct monthly and year-end reconciliations, correcting mis-postings through invoice adjustments or journals.
- Distribute remittance advices to suppliers.
- Handle general administrative tasks, including filing invoices, credit notes, purchase orders, supplier statements, and BACS documentation.
Person Specification:
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
- Relevant experience in a similar purchase ledger or accounts payable role
- Understanding of invoice processing, reconciliation, and general financial administration
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Competent user of all MS applications, particularly Excel and other spreadsheet tools
- Strong time management and the ability to manage workload efficiently
