Purpose of the role

To manage the company's tax compliance and accounting activities, ensuring timely reporting, adequate tax strategy, and compliance with internal risk monitoring and all regulatory requirements. To liaise with external tax advisors where required.

Duties and accountabilities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Manage all tax compliance and accounting activities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Drive best practice policies and procedures for the business.
  • Ensure the business is compliant with all regulations including (but not limited to) Lloyd's of London and HMRC, preparing and submitting relevant returns, liaising with external tax advisors where required.
  • Assist, prepare and review, where appropriate, tax returns including VAT, Tax Computations or other Lloyd's tax returns.
  • Partner with the Group Tax Team for US tax provisioning process, and ad hoc projects as required.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors, where required (ie: Tax computations). Provide necessary supporting documentation to tax advisors in a timely manner.
  • Support the continued transformation of the Tax function and migration to new General Ledger.
  • Manage tax compliance and controls framework ensuring that finance risks are identified and regularly monitored.
  • Provide necessary evidence to auditors in a timely manner.
  • Manage various tax health checks / projects on ad-hoc basis.

 

 

Skills, knowledge and experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Be qualified with a recognised professional body (CTA) with +5 years relevant experience.
  • Have relevant work experience gained in the tax accounting and compliance. Ideally they will have worked in the London Insurance Market.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word and Excel.
  • Have strong, clear and well-structured written and verbal communication skills.
  • Builds and maintains good internal and external relationships including the Group tax team and external tax advisors.
