Junior Stock Clerk

Supply Chain

Accountable for specialist outputs and initiating changes in processes, policies, procedures, standards and services within inter-related functional areas of responsibility. This role will work with various concrete variables, requiring an understanding of the theory or practices underpinning inter-related functional processes within a multi-procedural environment.

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for assisting with inventory management tasks, including monitoring stock levels, conducting counts, and ensuring that all inventory movements are accurately documented. The Junior Stock Clerk supports the team in maintaining accurate stock records in SAP and ensuring stock integrity across all operations.

Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control

  • Assist with monitoring stock levels for finished goods and raw materials.
  • Conduct routine and ad hoc stock counts under supervision.
  • Support in preparing daily/weekly/monthly stock reports for review.
  • Assist with reconciling variances and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Check stock rotation daily to ensure adherence to the FEFO (First Expired, First Out) principle.

Proof of Delivery and Stock Movement

  • Help verify proof of delivery notes and ensure proper filing.
  • Assist with resolving basic invoice and delivery discrepancies.
  • Monitor and follow up on in-transit shipments as required.

Stock Age Management

  • Help compile stock age reports and identify aged stock for review.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation by supporting checks and documentation.

Adherence to Food Safety Requirements

  • Understand and follow all food safety and hygiene policies.
  • Ensure personal adherence to PPE requirements and hygiene practices.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Report any food safety risks or concerns to the supervisor.

General Support

  • Participate in on-the-job training to develop operational skills.
  • Support process improvements by following standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and assist with audits when necessary.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory management (experience with SAP is a plus).
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of food safety principles is an advantage.
