Manufacturing
Accountable for specialist outputs, as well as initiating quality standards within defined work routines and policies.
Job Purpose
To ensure that the plant is available for production by carrying preventative maintenance, by attending to breakdowns and malfunctions, communicating effectively with the maintenance manager, production management and quality control personnel.
Key Accountabilities and Outputs
Mechanical Maintenance
- Repair mechanical breakdowns on production line equipment
- Assessment and replacement of suspect components as a measure to prevent future stoppages
- Attend to general electrical and mechanical problems in the production area, warehouse, office block and outside premises
- Preventative maintenance program: on a daily basis attend to checks, maintenance and lubrication instructions on KHS line, Vermercati line, Cordial line, sugar/syrup room, compressed air supply, as detailed in the weekly maintenance schedule.
- Cooling: control and keep log of performance of compressors, levels of oil, condensers, as well as monitoring of glycol supply to plant
- Municipal water supply: monitoring of filtration i.e. sand filters, activated carbon filters, cartridge filters, and UV installation as well as water pumps and valves
- Compressed air supply: monitoring of compressor performances and keeping records of operating temperatures, running hours etc.- air driers and air filtration equipment
- Assist with daily start-up and shut down of essential production machinery, pre-production trial run
- Assist with size changes on production lines
- Implement and oversee preventative maintenance programme
- Emergency breakdown repairs on dayshift and nightshift
- Inform maintenance manager of any equipment abuse
- Control maintenance store and company tools
Electrical Maintenance
- Applies electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify operational electrical machinery/ electrical control equipment/ circuitry in the plant
- Assembles and tests motor control devices, switch panels, transformers, generator windings. solenoids and other electrical equipment/ components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles
- Diagnoses cases of electrical/mechanical malfunctions or failure or expansions
- Develops wiring diagrams for systems or equipment modifications or expansions
- Assists with general plant maintenance with the maintenance team
- Conducts daily running and repair of plant machinery as per instructions
- Performs electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, electronic and cooling system maintenance on all machinery including high speed machinery and PLC
- Assists with breakdowns and attends to call-outs according to the operational requirements
- Greases machinery as per maintenance schedule
Operational Support
- Providing specialist support during operations, including standby and day shift support.
- Acting as a functional expert in problem-solving in collaboration with the Process Artisan.
- Offering guidance and advice to shift-based teams on mechanical equipment and fault-finding.
- Providing coaching, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to shift-based teams.
- Executing planned maintenance work during designated windows and assisting team members.
- Completing administration and SAP tasks related to planned maintenance.
- Participating in maintenance post-mortems to provide feedback and insights.
Adherence to the Quality, Food Safety, Health, Safety and Environmental Standards
- Adherence to Standards: Ensure strict adherence to Quality, Food, Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.
- Enforcement: Enforce all food safety and health regulations, policies, and requirements at all times to guarantee a secure work environment.
- Personal Hygiene: Maintain exceptional personal hygiene as per the organization’s code of conduct.
- Contamination Control: Raise awareness about potential physical product contamination and implement control measures to prevent it.
- Health and Safety Measures: Take reasonable precautions to prevent health and safety hazards.
- Follow the prescribed incident reporting procedure in case of accidents.
- Knowledge and Compliance: Stay updated with relevant business information, policies, processes, and procedures. Enforce compliance with legislative and statutory requirements, as well as GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Training: Attend and enforce the implementation of learnings from training sessions related to
- Quality, Food Safety, and Health and Safety.
- Housekeeping: Maintain high levels of cleanliness and orderliness within the work environment.
General
- Responsible to ensure housekeeping is performed and ensure that all products and activities are stored and are executed within the demarcated areas according to the housekeeping policy (green red and yellow areas)

Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4
- Relevant Trade Test (Essential)
- Up to 3 years’ experience (Operational Execution) Maintenance; FMCG; Bottling Equipment
- Basic MS Excel; MS Word; E-Mail
