The Hospitality Trainer is responsible for the development, delivery, and coordination of hospitality training programmes for andBeyond Benguerra's in-house trainees and employees. This role combines practical, on-the-job training with structured classroom-based learning, ensuring that trainees develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to deliver exceptional andBeyond guest experiences.

The Hospitality Trainer will work closely with the lodge management team to leverage their expertise and operational knowledge, incorporating this into the training programme to provide a well-rounded and industry-leading learning experience. The role will follow the prescribed andBeyond Academy curriculum, ensuring trainees meet all qualification requirements and successfully attain their andBeyond Academy certification upon completion of their programme.

In addition, the Hospitality Trainer will support the ongoing development of existing team members by facilitating access to and participation in the andBeyond Academy learning pathways.


KEY OUTPUTS:

  • Deliver the andBeyond Academy curriculum through a combination of:
    •  Classroom instruction
    •  Practical demonstrations
    •  On-the-job coaching
  • Facilitate engaging and effective learning experiences that cater to different learning styles.
  • Conduct training across various hospitality disciplines, including:
    • Front Office and Guest Services
    • Housekeeping Operations
    • Food & Beverage Service
    • Hospitality Standards and Guest Experience
    • Professional Communication and Workplace Skills
  • Monitor trainee progress and provide regular feedback and coaching.
  • Assess trainee competency through practical and theoretical evaluations.
  • Work alongside operational teams to provide hands-on training in real work environments.
  • Ensure trainees gain practical experience that aligns with the requirements of the andBeyond Academy curriculum.
  • Coach trainees on service excellence, operational procedures, and andBeyond standards.
  • Support trainees in applying classroom knowledge to daily operations.
  • Ensure all training content is delivered in accordance with the andBeyond Academy framework and standards.
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance registers, assessment results, and learner portfolios.
  • Coordinate assessments and qualification requirements to ensure successful certification of trainees.
  • Track and report on trainee performance and programme outcomes.
  • Partner closely with lodge leadership and departmental managers to identify training opportunities and operational learning needs.
  • Draw on the expertise of managers and departmental heads to enrich training content and practical learning experiences.
  • Coordinate guest speakers, demonstrations, and mentorship opportunities from within the management team.
  • Ensure alignment between operational requirements and academy learning outcomes.
  • Assist existing employees in progressing through andBeyond Academy programmes and development pathways.
  • Identify staff development opportunities and recommend appropriate training interventions.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring support to employees wishing to grow their hospitality careers within andBeyond.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development throughout the lodge.
  • Ensure all training reflects andBeyond's service philosophy, culture, and values.
  • Promote excellence in guest experience and operational standards across all departments.
  • Maintain current knowledge of hospitality trends, training methodologies, and best practices.
  • Continuously review and improve training effectiveness.

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Essential:

  • Relevant Hospitality Qualification.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in hospitality operations.
  • Experience in both Front Office/Guest Services and Housekeeping operations.
  • Previous experience in training, coaching, mentoring, or staff development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training administration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Portuguese are required.

Preferred:

  • Training or Adult Education qualification.
  • Experience working with accredited learning programmes.
  • Previous experience within luxury hospitality or lodge operations.
  • Experience with andBeyond standards and service philosophy

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Strong understanding of hospitality operations, particularly Housekeeping and Front-of-House functions.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and administrative skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with operational teams.
