Expected average hours – Opportunities available for approximately 20–40 hours per week, depending on client needs and availability. This is a variable hours contract and hours are not guaranteed. 12-hour day or waking night shifts on a Rota basis - 08:00-20:00 or 20:00-08:00.

Due to the specific needs of the clients we support, this role is subject to a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010. 

The successful applicant will be required to support a female client, including providing transport and working in situations involving privacy, dignity and safeguarding considerations. For this reason, we are only able to consider female applicants for this position. 

Maintaining a professional appearance in line with individual client needs is essential in this role. This may include adhering to specific guidance on dress and presentation to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of the client.  In some cases, this may require visible tattoos to be covered, where they are known to act as a distress trigger for the clients being supported, particularly those living with complex conditions such as neurological impairments, trauma-related responses, or cognitive conditions. These requirements will always be discussed with candidates and are based on delivering safe, person-centred care.

These requirements relate solely to the nature of the role and the needs of the individuals supported. All other aspects of recruitment will be assessed fairly and on merit. 

About the Role:

As a people person, you will enjoy meeting and supporting a diverse range of people of all ages  

Qualifications:

  • Training in mental health support and crisis intervention preferrable

Experience:

  • Proven experience working in mental health settings
  • Familiarity with various complex mental health conditions, including dissociative identity disorder
  • Experience following care plans

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively.
  • Proficient in using active listening skills to understand client’s needs and concerns.
  • Strong skills in de-escalation techniques and crisis management.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
