Beluga rox are recruiting for a Deputy Manager to work at a 3 bedded children's EBD home in South Ribble Preston. This role is full time 37.5 hours per week, we are looking for someone who has the flexibility to sometimes work outside of the normal working hours to do the on call duty on a rota basis. The right applicant will also have a full uk driving licence with access to there own vehicle and willing to use as required. 

as our Deputy Manager you will lead the home’s multi-disciplinary team in the provision of care and support services for young people with emotional and challenging behaviours. Act as a role model creating a warm and supportive environment which aims to maximise the potential of young people. 

Role description 

 

  • Provide leadership creating an emotionally secure, consistent, warm, supportive, and nurturing environment appropriate to the physical, social, cultural, and religious needs of young people. 
  • Ensure that the home is run in line with policies and procedures, Children’s legislation, regulations, and good practice and meets Ofsted standards at all times. 
  • Develop and implement care plans for young people that include a variety of intervention strategies with emphasis behaviour management and the development of coping mechanisms. 
  • Ensure that meetings and reviews of children are delivered within required time scales. 
  • Ensure that staff deliver the support required in order to ensure that the life chance opportunities of young people are met in relation to their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical and cultural needs.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of strategies in response to challenging behaviours ensuring these are consistently applied in the home. 
  • Ensure that you lead the safeguarding culture at the home. Safeguard and protect the health, safety and well-being of children. 
  • Be the primary point of contact in the home for representatives of other agencies including local authorities, regulators, GP and other medical professionals, therapists and social workers. 
  • Ensure that the home works with families as set out in the young person’s care plan.  
  • Ensure that an open culture is created, in which young people are able to express their views in a non-judgemental setting, be involved in individual and collective decision making and feel that they have choice and agency.  
  • Participate in Staff and young people’s meetings as and when required.
  • Ensure that within the home staff, and young people understand, recognise, and celebrate the diversity of cultures and beliefs within the local and wider community. 

Qualifications 

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management Children and Young People 2-3 bedded homes 
  • NWQ4 in Management (CMS, DMS equivalent or working towards) 
  • NVQ3  Children and Young People (or equivalent) 
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) 

Skills and attributes 

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and to use own initiative when necessary.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to young people with emotionally challenging behaviours and / or learning difficulties 
  • Demonstrates commitment to working with young people in a respectful way that honours their wishes
  • Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic with the ability to motivate others to achieve their goals 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Able to tailor communication to groups with differing levels of engagement and understanding (young people, families, etc) 
  • Able to build positive relationships with young people, their families and colleagues
  • Works collaboratively with others sharing ideas and information at all times 
  • Ability to maintain staff discipline and build morale 
  • Able to make well considered decisions with limited information
