Cargo Account Executive

Are you an enthusiastic and driven individual looking for a foot in the door of a successful, global aviation organisation?  Are you not afraid of working shifts, on-site (during the days) in a fast paced office environment?  If so, read on, as this might be the opportunity for you, as we are looking for Account Executives to join our Gatwick based Cargo team to be trained to provide a portfolio of Time Critical cargo services, including On-board Courier (OBC), Next Flight Out (NFO) and part / full Charter solutions to our extensive portfolio of clients. 

You will learn to understand aircraft types, processes, procedures, pricing structures, systems and sales techniques and build and maintain relationships with our Operators, to understand what they offer.  We will also enhance your softer skills such as written and verbal communication, business etiquette and more, before you are released onto the floor to start shadowing and learning from the experts. 

During your probation period (usually 6 months) you will mostly work normal office hours Monday to Friday, on site at our Gatwick office (RH6 0PA).  After this time, and once you are comfortable and training is over, you will take responsibility for supporting the Team in all aspects of day-to-day trading, cargo commercial services and operations.  This will involve being part of a 12 hour shift pattern covering both day shifts (5am-5pm) or night shifts (5pm-5am) on a 4 on, 4 off basis, similar to most airports.  Week time day shifts will be office based, whereas all weekend and night shifts can be carried out remotely if preferred.

Starting Salary - £29,500

After successful completion of probation and starting to work the 12 hours shift pattern, you will receive an additional £6,000 annual shift allowance, taking your overall package to £35,500.  This is when you will also qualify to begin earning commission on qualifying bookings on top of your salary / allowance.    

What you will be doing:

• Providing support to the Team in all aspects of day-to-day trading, cargo commercial services and operations
  • Maintaining and growing our existing client base, including the speedy turnaround of new and existing enquiries, cold calling and other sales activities
  • Assisting with client care activities and supplier relations, including national and international client visits, events and some OBS airport meet and greets or carry on flights
  • Researching relevant industry data to assist the team in creating new sales leads

Candidate Requirements

We want to be completely transparent with you from the offset. This is a fun, high reward but sometimes pressurised role and as such, we are looking for our next Cargo Account Executives to have the following attributes:

• Clear and concise communication skills and an excellent telephone manner
  • Confidence and an ability to speak to people at all levels and cold call potential leads
  • Good IT skills and ability to pick up news systems, information and processes fast
  • Great problem-solving skills and an ability to stay calm under pressure
    • A flexible and adaptable approach to the changing needs of the business and a willingness to work unsocial hours if required
    • An ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required
      • Excellent time management skills to ensure rigorous contract and project deadlines are met
      • A fun team player who is also happy with lone working when on night shift
      • A good sense of humour
      • An ability to be Gatwick office based and upon successful completion of probation a willingness to work a 12 hour, 4 on 4 off (Day 5am-5pm / Night 5pm-5am) shift pattern – it is essential that you will be able to get to the Gatwick office to start a shift at 5am for example 

The following would also be an advantage:

• Knowledge of / a passion for aviation
• A full and valid Driving license
• Previous office-based sales / broking experience
