Job Description: Mechanical Fitter - Industrial Racking Installation

Location: Los Angeles, USA (10 weeks on-site) & UK (2 weeks return break)
Duration: 9 months contract
Company: UK-based organisation (all travel, visa, and accommodation arrangements provided)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team in building industrial racking systems for manufacturing facilities. This exciting opportunity will involve working on projects in Los Angeles, USA, with a rotation schedule of 10 weeks on-site in LA followed by 2 weeks back in the UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining heavy-duty racking structures in compliance with engineering standards, ensuring they meet operational and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and maintain industrial racking systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Use a variety of tools and machinery for fitting and assembly tasks.
• Conduct on-site inspections to ensure racking is installed safely and efficiently.
• Perform quality control checks and rectify any issues identified during installation.
• Collaborate with the project team to meet deadlines and client requirements.
• Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean and organized worksite.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical or structural issues during installation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar role, preferably within industrial racking or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and other assembly equipment.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
• Flexibility to travel and work on a rotational schedule between Los Angeles and the UK.
• Good physical fitness to handle heavy equipment and work in industrial settings.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
