QC Inspector - Welding/NDT (Topside Fabrication & Installation)

Location: Offshore / Site-based, Qatar

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (until end of 2025)

Work Schedule: Offshore rotation or site-based

We are seeking a highly skilled QC Inspector with extensive experience in welding and NDT for topside fabrication and installation within the oil and gas industry. This role will oversee quality control processes for welding activities and ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards.

Qualifications Required

• High technical school or equivalent certification in welding/NDT from a recognised organisation such as AWS, TWI, API, ASME, ASNT, etc.
• TWI CSWIP 3.2 or AWS SCWI in welding is mandatory
• ASNT Level II certification in NDT

Experience Required

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas Downstream Industry with international consultancy companies, third-party inspection/certification companies, EPIC contractors, or end users in major project implementation
• Proven expertise in quality control within welding and NDT, particularly in topside fabrication and installation

   

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure quality requirements for fabrication, construction, and installation activities are adhered to as outlined in the QC procedure and project documents
• Ensure contractors, subcontractors, and vendors have competent resources and implement internationally recognised best practices to deliver products in compliance with QE corporate and project quality requirements
• Monitor all welding activities on-site and at fabrication yards, ensuring compliance with approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)
• Attend PQRs (Procedure Qualification Records) mechanical testing to ensure full compliance with QE corporate standard requirements
• Witness contractor welder qualification tests and assess their visual and NDT results
• Oversee NDT daily activities on-site or at fabrication yards, interpret test results, and assess findings
• Conduct in-process inspections of offshore steel structure fabrications and topside facilities at contractor fabrication premises, ensuring conformity with QE corporate standards, project specifications, and international codes/standards
• Report daily to the QA/QC Engineer, providing updates on compliance with contract procedures and standards and highlighting any quality concerns

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to ensuring the highest quality standards across all project phases
• Proactive in addressing and resolving quality-related issues
• Effective communicator with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and contractors
