About the Role: We are seeking experienced Steel Fixers/Joiners to join our team for substation projects. The ideal candidates will have a proven track record in steel fixing and joinery, with the necessary qualifications to work on National Grid sites. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Position and secure steel reinforcement bars or reinforcement steel mesh to reinforce concrete structures.
Read and interpret reinforcement plans/drawings and reinforcement schedules.
Set out the work from drawings
Cut and bend steel bars or mesh to the required length/shape using bolt cutters, guillotines, or power saws.
Assemble reinforcing bars or mesh using the correct tying wire in predetermined locations prior to concrete pours.
Fabricate steel reinforcement such as beams, pile caps, columns, or special units.
Use jigs to join prefabricated units together for large sections of high-rise or civil projects.
Position reinforcement ready for concrete pours.
Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work in a construction environment.
Proficient in using hand and power tools.
Ability to lift and handle heavy objects.
Competent at performing routine manual labor tasks.
Excellent attention to detail.
Proven ability to understand and execute written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work in a team.
Demonstrated ability to work outdoors.
CSCS Skilled Worker Card (Blue).
Understanding of and ability to interpret drawings (both paper and 3D models).
Abrasive Wheels certification.
Working at Heights Training (Scissor Lift / IPAF / Harness Training).
